You may be surprised to hear this, but there is a government subsidy program that may help you pay for assisted living.
The State of New Jersey’s Department of Health and Senior Services, Division of Aging and Community Services offers the Global Options program, which offers the Assisted Living Medicaid Waiver. This program enables older adults to receive a broad array of supportive and health services by residing in an assisted living facility. These older adults must be at risk of nursing home placement and who meet income and resource requirements.
All eligible New Jersey residents can enroll in Global Options. The availability is determined by the number of vacancies in each provider facility as well as the availability of Medicaid Waiver slots. These slots are distributed through the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, Division of Aging and Community Services, and are provided based on an assessment of the prospective resident’s needs, individual care plan, and availability of services and funding.
Bright Side Manor is one of a very few facilities in northern New Jersey that participates extensively with the Assisted Living Medicaid Waiver program. Unlike other facilities, we do not require that residents pay privately before transitioning onto the Medicaid Waiver.
